We all know how crazy things can be in the lead up to a family holiday, and the last thing we need is a disorganised suitcase or our little bundles of joy getting lost in the airport.
Joanna Goddard, mum and blogger at A Cup of Jo, has written an inspired list of packing and travel tips to help keep things calm and organised come holiday time.
“Over the years, I’ve learned by trial and error some of the best ways to pack for a family trip,” Jo writes.
She suggests bringing along pillowcases to store dirty clothes during your trip – “When you get home, just throw the clothes and pillowcase into the washing machine.” – as well as snapping a photograph of your luggage so that you can show your airline exactly what it looks like instead of trying to describe it.
When it comes to travelling with children, Jo suggests bringing “slow” food along for them to snack on.
“By that I mean food that takes forever to eat,” she writes. “A lollipop (no crunching!) Raisins. A day-old bagel. You want them sitting still and calmly snacking for as long as possible.”
Jo also suggests packing travel-sized versions of games to play with your kids as well as other relatives on your trip (they’re apps before apps were apps), and dressing your small children in matching shirts, or at least the same colour palette.
“That way, when they’re running around the airport, or you’re juggling all the luggage after the cab ride, you can easily spot them and keep everyone together.”
Genius!
