The 58th Annual Grammy Awards went off with a bang as the stars flood the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The night’s winners included everyone’s s favourite #squad leader Taylor Swift, who scored an impressive seven nominations and took out Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Music Video.

But the evening’s stand out was Kendrick Lamar, who landed a whopping 11 nominations. The 28-year-old rapper took home gongs for Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and Best Music Video (along with Taylor Swift).

The Grammys may celebrate the current stars, but the awards took a moment to remember the legends of the past. Lady Gaga moved audiences across the globe with her stupendous tribute to the late, great David Bowie.

She kicked off her musical tribute in true Ziggy Stardust fashion with Space Oddity, Fashion, Let’s Dance and Rebel Rebel. Gaga ended the tribute alongside David’s longtime collaborator and guitar aficionado, Nile Rodgers, who also directed the performance. They belted out a poignant rendition of the British icon’s famous hit, Heroes.

Australia was well represented with Melbourne singer Courtney Barnett, 28, who landed the nomination for Best New Artist, which was won by Meghan Trainor. Meanwhile Perth group Tame Impala were nominated for the Best Alternative Music Album category, which was taken out by Alabama Shakes.

An elated Taylor Swift took to Instagram to reveal: “We just won a Grammy for the Bad Blood music video and we are NOT OK. @selenagomez,” before the ladies even got to the show!

Meanwhile Justin Bieber’s life-long dream of winning a Grammy has finally been achieved! The Canadian pop-stars insanely catchy tune with Diplo and Skrillex Where Are They Now won Best Dance Recording.
