As a dedicated, senior member of the royal family, Countess Sophie of Wessex is renowned for her cool, calm demeanour and stunning style.
However, the wife of Prince Edward sported a different look for a royal engagement back in October as these resurfaced photos have revealed.
In the images shared by fan account Data Duchess, the Countess of Wessex looks radiant in a Loewe Anagram-belt leather midi dress. Crafted in Italy, the frock costs (AU)$7,450.
Sophie accessorised her bold look with a REPEAT pearl pendant necklace, diamond set silver hoops and a gold chain bracelet.
The event held at St James’ Palace was to mark the 20th anniversary of 100 Women in Finance – an initiative of which the royal is the global ambassador.
Sophie isn’t a stranger to making a statement with her fashion choices.
Since she officially joined the royal family in 1999, she has developed a unique sense of style combining classic pieces with bright patterns and striking silhouettes.
Who can forget when she arrived at Wimbledon in 2019 with a clutch bag that read: “I’m not saying I am wonderwoman. I’m just saying that no one has ever seen me and wonderwoman in the same place”?
At Royal Ascot that year, she also donned a flared jumpsuit – something women had been banned from doing at the prestigious racing event until very recently.
In recent months, Sophie has stepped up to serve more royal duties and in October, spoke candidly about the effects menopause can have on working women for a roundtable discussion with charity Wellbeing of Women, for which she is a royal patron.
“Women having to leave the workplace because of the menopause is tragic,” the 56-year-old royal stated at the time.
“We are fabulous in our 40s, and we are even more fabulous in our 50s, 60s and 70s and we need to celebrate that and keep opportunities going for women.”

On a personal note, Countess Sophie is about to watch her eldest child Lady Louise Windsor hit an exciting milestone.
The Queen and Prince Philip’s youngest granddaughter turns 18 on November 8 and will officially become an adult, we can’t believe how fast she’s grown up!
Sophie and Edward also share son James, Viscount Severn who was born in 2007.
