The glitz and glamour of the TV WEEK Logie Awards red carpet may look effortlessly chic, but putting together the perfect outfit can take months of planning.

And it also helps if you have a top-of-their-game celebrity stylist on hand. Donny Galella has styled countless celebrities for a host of events, including the TV WEEK Logies.

And this year, he’ll be called on to weave his styling magic for more stars, including the Graham Kennedy Award For Most Popular New Talent nominee, Sophia Forrest, from Love Child.

The styling process is much more than getting a “yes” to the dress – it begins with getting to know the star.

“I need to get into their head about what they’re comfortable and not comfortable with,” Donny, 38, explains. “That sets us on our path for the Logies.

“Don’t always follow the trends,” Donny advises. “Go for the dress that you’re going to feel absolutely incredible in.”

According to Donny, the key to nailing any look is finding a dress you are comfortable and confident in.

“It’s all about fit and body shape,” he says. “It may not be the latest trend or colour – but when you put it on, you’re going to feel so good, you work that carpet like nobody else.”

While nervous about her first Logies red carpet, Sophia is glad to have Donny to guide her.

“I’ve done fashion events and film premieres, but the Logies is a whole different ball game,” Sophia, 23, tells. “I’m excited and nervous!”

The duo clicked instantly, and are now designing the ideal dress for Sophia.

“Donny and I are really trying to go for something fashion-forward, funky, fresh and young,” she reveals.

Donny has no doubt Sophia will impress on her red-carpet debut.

“This is her moment to say, ‘Hey, Australia – I’m here!'” he says. “Sophia is going to be amazing, I can just tell.”
