If you thought sexy bikinis were only forSports Illustratedmodels, take it up with plus-size fashion blogger Gabi Gregg and she’ll teach you a thing or two.
The 25-year-old’s blogGabiFreshshot to fame last year with this post where Gabi, who wears a US size 18, showed stunning holiday snaps in her ‘fatkini’, inspiring full-figured women to dare to wear a two-piece.
“Don’t let body shame keep you from having a good time!” she wrote.
“I don’t expect everyone to feel comfortable in a two piece, but hopefully I can inspire some of you to take the plunge. I can’t tell you how freeing it is to just have fun without worrying about what other people think.”
Gabi did inspire women to don their bikinis, causing quite a sensation online with the tongue-in-cheek term ‘fatkini’ trending online following the post, and also caught the attention of the fashion industry.
This month she is launching a collection of bikinis with swimwear line SwimSuitsForAll, busting the age old body myths of what plus size swimwear should look like.
Forget daggy prints and unflattering saggy cover-ups, the plus size bikini collection is youthful and on-trend.
“I think swimsuit shopping can be horrendous if you’re going to stores that don’t offer your size, but finding a stylish option that fits you well can actually make you feel great!” she toldRefinery29.
“It can be tough to find on-trend bathing suits in plus sizes, and I hope this collection helps.”
Like her blog posts, Gabi hopes her range of swimwear can help bring confidence to women and shed light on misconceptions about women, body image and swimwear.
