In a rare and rather glamorous move, the Palace has shared several throwback pictures of Princess Anne to celebrate her greatest fashion moments of all time.
The British Firm has been particularly forward with their social media strategy of late, utilising globally renowned platform Instagram to highlight and share insights into the lives of the royals, which is where Princess Anne comes in.
The Royal Family’s official Instagram account has shared the glorious story to highlight the Princess Royal’s attendance at London Fashion Week this month – the perfect excuse to take a look back at her flawless fashion choices in the past.
In the first image, which includes a very chic-looking Princess Anne in a grey coat and teal shirt, the Palace wrote: “The Princess Royal is presenting the Queen Elizabeth Award for British Design at London Fashion Week today”.
In the next image, a caption read: “A look back at some of her most fashionable moments.”
And thus began one of the most glorious Instagram stories we’ve ever had the pleasure to clap our eyes on.
Starting with a picture in 1983, Anne is seen in a beautiful white cape coat paired with a buttercup yellow wide brim hat.
The next photo is of Anne in 1967, wearing a powder blue military style coat and knee-high black boots.
There’s no mistaking that Sixties chop, either!
Next came a beautiful shot of Anne in 1969, when she wore another darker blue military coat, paired with a blue and white hat.
And another, very casual image of Anne followed – she is seen at Balmoral in 1971 looking like the perfect Seventies siren, wearing a casual-chic shirt and a Farrah Fawcett-esque blow wave – all while cooking some sausages on a barbecue.
Obsessed!
The last two images show Anne out and about at official engagements around the UK.
In 1969, Anne’s zesty yellow coat dress and hat ensemble worn to a horse racing event was all kinds of retro chic, while her bright blue hat and coat worn at Prince Charles’ Investiture that same year is one of her most famous outfits.
Yep, this blue-toned ensemble was even recreated in the most recent season of The Crown! See the TV show’s version of the outfit here.
The Instagram story coincided with Anne’s glamorous engagement at London Fashion Week.
Making her grand debut there, the Princess Royal presented the very special award named after her mother.
The award honours designers for their forward-thinking and talent in fashion design – and this year’s winner embodied the feat in all aspects.
Rosh Mahtani of Alighieri jewellery received the regal gong this year for her incredible designs, which are made with responsibly sourced materials and utilise local surroundings – including manufacturers and employees.
Very well deserved!
