Trooping the Colour is an annual official parade marking the Queen’s birthday, but it’s also a time for the public to see the royals in one place.

After their first appearance together at last year’s parade, everyone was on the lookout for Prince George and Princess Charlotte – and the tiny royals did not disappoint. The brother and sister wore the most adorable outfits to watch the festivities, which colour coordinated with the rest of the family.

Let’s start with Princess Charlotte.

The young princess is only 2 (she celebrated her birthday in May) but already is taking her style cues from mum.

Charlotte wore a sweet floral dress in shades of pink with a ruffle collar; perfect for the warm weather in London over the weekend, where temperatures soared to a positively balmy 27 degrees.

In fact the floral pattern on Charlotte’s dress was strikingly similar to a designer worn by her grandmother, the Queen, at another engagement.

Charlotte’s look was complete with burgundy t-bar shoes, which matched perfectly with Prince George’s suspenders.

George also wore a traditional ensemble, which included a cream pintucked short-sleeve shirt with burgundy trim, tucked into a pair of brown shorts.

In previous years, George had only worn hand-me-downs from when his father was the same age, leading to some delightfully retro outfits (William grew up in the ’80s after all). Duchess Catherine is known for her love of recycling outfits so she no doubt had a hand in picking them out.

In 2016, George wore a blue-trimmed peter pan collar shirt with shorts that was first worn by Prince William in 1984 to Prince Harry’s christening.

And in 2015, the family whipped out another original Prince William outfit for George – a blue frilled romper set. Prince William wore the same romper when he was just two to the Trooping the Colour.

Good to see the young royals are finally embracing their own style though. We cannot wait to see what they wear to next year’s event.
