Supermodel Naomi Campbell proved her style is as ageless as her looks as she stunned in a recycled Versace gown at an event in New York on Wednesday night.
The 45-year-old leggy model cut a fine figure among some fashionable elite at the Fragrance Fashion Awards in a silver designer gown which she first donned at the Versace Haute Couture Fashion Show in Paris in 1998, aged 28.
Looking at the side-by-side pictures of the model in the plunging open back dress it’s hard to tell which Naomi wore it better – Naomi then or Naomi now?
On her way to the event Naomi wrote on Instagram: “@versace_official @allegrabeckversace redux of my custom dress from #18 years ago.” She also added a shout-out to the late Gianni Versace, who was assassinated in 1997.
Naomi was scouted at the age of 15 while shopping in London and by the late 1980s she was one of the most famous faces in modelling.
She was a significant player in the ‘Supermodel era’ of modelling along with Elle Macpherson, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford and Kate Moss.
Decades after they made their catwalk debut, these supermodels are still ready for their close-up. Elle Macpherson is still ‘The Body’, Linda Evangelista could still charge $10,000 just to get out of bed and Kate Moss is modelling more at 40 than she was at 18.
Here are our favourite supermodels who haven’t lost the looks that made them household names, despite the fact that several are approaching 60.
Naomi Campbell, 45 looked flawless in a Versace gown she first wore in 1998 – then aged 28.
Cindy Crawford, Elle Macpherson and Naomi Campbell.
Supermodels Cindy Crawford, Elle Macpherson and Naomi Campbell were in great company throughout the 80s as the top models dominating the world and not much has changed since their heyday with all three still commanding mega bucks for modelling apparences.
