Michelle Obama’s most memorable State Dinner looks

White House watchers will be sure to miss Michelle Obama, who has proven her fashion maven status after eight years of reigning supreme in the Presidential style stakes.

Over the 13 State Dinners she and her husband Barack have attended, the mother-of-two has shown her versatility in an array of designs, cleverly crafted by an enviable list of designers worth name-dropping.

From fiery red Alexander McQueen, midnight black Vera Wang and her most recent rose gold Atelier Versace, there’s no ensemble this influential woman can’t pull off.

Designer Naeem Khan agrees. “After Jackie O., there was no-one else there, and she is classic,” says the artist, who has dressed Michelle on many occasions, at Tuesday night’s state dinner.

“I think she’s made American fashion on a top stage.”

There’s no doubt Michelle pulled out all the stops for her final State Dinner on Tuesday, October 18. In this stunning, rose gold Atelier Versace, she left a lasting impression that will go down in both presidential and fashion history.

No-one could forget the 52-year-old’s sleek strapless gown by Brandon Maxwell, which she wore earlier this year at a State Dinner for Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

The lawyer let her hair down in a strapless, embroidered Jason Wu number, worn to greet Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Michelle was a vision in white Tom Ford when she attended a state banquet with the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

For her first official State Dinner, Malia and Sasha’s mother made an impression in a nude, strapless Naeem Khan gown to meet with India’s Prime Minister.

She was a true vision in patterned red Alexander McQueen upon meeting Chinese President Hu Jintao.

Back in May, the First Lady was positively glowing in this one-shouldered Naeem Khan gown for the Nordic State Dinner.

Beaming in a deep teal Marchesa frock, set off with a cluster of beads, Michelle and her husband of 24 years welcomed the UK’s then-Prime Minister David Cameron.

Vera Wang certainly knew what she was doing when she dressed Michelle in this elegant black, mermaid-tailed gown.

Michelle gave a nod to the evening’s special guest in Japanese designer Tadashi Shoji’s blue dress when she met with the country’s Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe.

Michelle stunned in royal blue Peter Soronen for her State Dinner with Mexican President Felipe Calderon.

Obama was noticeably stunned by his wife’s Doo-Ri Chung gown at the State Dinner held for South Korea’s Lee Myung-bak.

The First Lady was ballerina-chic in a tutu skirt-style Carolina Herrera frock to greet France’s Francois Hollande.
