Lupita Nyong’o has scored her first Vogue cover!
Just a year ago Nyong’o was just another unknown actress but over the space of 12-months the Mexican-born-Kenyan-raised thespian has become a fully-fledged movie star and favourite of fashionistas everywhere.
Prada. Gucci. Chanel. Ralph Lauren. Every luxury design house seems to be clamouring over each other just for a chance to dress their newest dahhhhhhling and this month Lupita has won the seal of approval from fashion’s queen, Anna Wintour on the July issue of American Vogue.
Wearing Prada, Lupita, 31, flashes her pearly whites and flaunts her perfect skin with the glamorous ease of a seasoned supermodel but inside the glossy she reveals that her astonishingly quick rise to fame took her by surprise.
“It just feels like the entertainment industry exploded into my life,” she told the magazine.
“People who seemed so distant all of a sudden were right in front of me and recognising me – before I recognised them!”
With a gold statue – nicknamed Oscar – of her very own the actress has cemented herself as a bankable star and will voice a character in Jon Favreau’s remake of Disney’s The Jungle Book and has also landed a role in Star Wars: Episode VII.
