The study, commissioned by beauty and supplement brand Inner Me, surveyed 2000 British women and found that those in their thirties were the most stressed because they struggle to balance their work and family life.

They also worried more about their weight, looks and social lives than women in their twenties.

Only 12 per cent of participants said that they felt that women were happier than men, while almost 18 per cent said that they would describe themselves as unhappy because of stress.

Having more money, losing weight and spending more quality time with friends and family were the top factors that women said would make them less stressed.

In Australia, family issues and financial issues are the tied top sources of stress for women, according to the Stress and wellbeing in Australia survey 2013.
