The ATO have just released their latest Taxation statistics report for 2013-14, containing Australia’s highest earners and richest postcodes.
So, what occupation holds the top earners?
Looks like we’ll have to change career paths to the medical industry, with surgeons once again taking the top spot.
Surgeons – $375,097
Anaesthetists – $331,867
Specialist physicians – $279,022
Financial dealers – $233,639
Judicial and other legal professionals – $204,255
Psychiatrists – $199,143
Other medical practitioners – $182,722
Mining engineers – $168,267
Chief executives and managing directors – $164,097
Engineering managers – $148,786
The richest suburbs are all in Sydney, right next to the beautiful harbour – Darling Point, Edgecliff, HMAS Rushcutters and Point Piper. The average income for those living there is more than $200,000.
Coming in at a close second is the postcode of 3142 in Victoria. That’s Hawksburn and Toorak, who each take home an average of $167,407.
The suburbs with the lowest average income in Australia are located in Queensland – Mungallala, Tyrconnel and Redford – with an average of $3,148.
NSW is the most charitable state in the country, donating an average of $710.
The least charitable? Northern Territory, with an average of close to $370.
