Lake Hillier, Australia
The bubblegum-pink Lake Hillier is one of our countryโs lesser known natural wonders, located on Middle Island, off the coast of Esperance in Western Australia, and best viewed by air. Scientists still donโt know exactly why the lake appears pink, but believe itโs due to a dye created by the bacteria in salt crusts.
