At 96 years old, there’s no one more respected in the television industry than Betty White.
And on Tuesday, the living legend was given the praise she deserved at the 2018 Emmy Awards.
Receiving a standing ovation as she took to the stage, the living legend was honoured for her incredible work on the small screen.
“I’m just gonna quit while I’m ahead,” the ever humble Betty joked at the 2018 Emmys.
“It’s incredible you can stay in a career this long and still have people put up with you. I wish they did that at home. It’s such a blessed business to be in.”
With eight Emmys and 24 nominations under her belt, there’s a reason Betty has been dubbed the “First Lady of Television.”

But despite her decades-long success the actress, who has starred in classic shows like The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Golden Girls, Hot in Cleveland, is still extremely down-to-earth.
Opening up about being dubbed the “First Lady of Television”, Betty showed off her comedic timing when she quipped: “Somebody said something the other day about first lady of television, and I took it as a big compliment.”
“And then I heard her talking to her daughter a little later, and she said, ‘First lady, she’s that old. She was the first one way back,'” she dead-panned as the crowd erupted in laughter.
“Little did I dream then that I would be here. It’s incredible that I’m still in this business and you are still putting up with me,” she added.
In the wake of Betty’s charming Emmys appearance, Twitter instantaneously exploded with collective swooning.
