We’ll call it now – the only thing more classy than a Hollywood awards ceremony is a Hollywood awards ceremony drenched in British tradition.

Enter the British Academy Film Awards, an annual spectacle held at London’s Royal Albert Hall featuring the very best in British film and television.

Oh, and did we mention there are actual royals there? It seems pertinent to mention, because boy have they taken things to a whole new level of glamour.

Held on Sunday, February 2, this year’s awards haven’t failed to provide all the glitz, grandeur, and sophistication we’ve come to know and love from the annual event.

Yep, we’ve seen a slew of talented nominee’s grace the red carpet for the 2020 spectacle.

To name a few, the ever-glamourous Scarlett Johansson (nominated for Marriage Story), the legendary Renée Zellweger (nominated for Judy) and Irish rose Saoirse Ronan (nominated for Little Women) are among the talented throng of particularly well-dressed A-listers.

But there are two people in particular who’ve royally captured our attention – the formidable Duchess Catherine and Prince William.

The regal twosome made a dazzling entrance to the awards event, with Kate’s Alexander McQueen dress instantly catapulting her into the evening’s best dressed list.

This year, the awards have also brought a crucial issue to the forefront – sustainability.

As per the award’s style guide, the BAFTA are “doing more than ever before to consider sustainability across its awards ceremonies, including inviting guests to ‘dress sustainably'”.

Guests were encouraged to either re-wear gowns, or pick designers whose ethos is entrenched in sustainability.

Kate’s heavenly look of course led the pack – her McQueen gown was a recycled look from one of her royal tours back in 2012.

So without further ado, keep calm and start scrolling as we celebrate the very best in British fashion… oh, and film, of course!
