Weddings are expensive. We get it. But if a couple is set on tying the knot with a lavish party with all the bells and whistles, should their guests be left to foot the bill?

Jessica Baker from Minneapolis couldn’t make it to a kid-free wedding after her babysitting arrangements fell through at the last minute. By not attending her friends’ big day, she was sent a bill for US$75.90 along with a brutally impersonal note asking for an “explanation”.

“This cost reflects the amount paid by the bride and groom for meals that were RSVP’d for, reimbursement and explanation for no show, card, call or text would be appreciated,” the note read.

Jessica couldn’t believe her eyes and sent the note to her local news outlet KARE 11.

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” she told them. “It listed, we would have had two herb crusted walleye and there was also a service and tax charge.”

It’s safe to say her relationship with the couple is now non-existent after that stunt.

The average Australian wedding now costs just above $65,000 – more than double the figure from two years ago!

Jessica Baker was shocked to receive a bill from the married couple!
