Val Kilmer has spent the past few months denying his illness but during a Reddit Ask Me Anything session, the 57-year-old confirmed that he has indeed battled cancer.
“A while ago, Michael Douglas claimed you had terminal cancer. What was the story behind that?” One fan asked.
“He was probably trying to help me cause press probably asked where I was these days, and I did have a healing of cancer, but my tongue is still swollen altho [sic] healing all the time,” the actor replied.
“Because I don’t sound my normal self yet people think I may still be under the weather,” Val added.
He didn’t elaborate further on what specific type of cancer he had conquered.
In October last year, Michael was partaking in a Q&A in London when he spoke of his friend, saying he was “dealing with exactly what I had.”
“Things don’t look too good for him,” the 72-year-old actor claimed.
“My prayers are with him. That’s why you haven’t heard too much from Val lately.”
Val quickly took to Facebook to address Michael’s comments.
“I love Michael Douglas but he is misinformed,” the Batman star penned.
“The last time I spoke to him was almost two years ago, when I asked him for a referral for a specialist to get a diagnosis for a lump in my throat, which prevented me from continuing a tour of my play CITIZEN TWAIN. I ended up using a team at UCLA and have no cancer whatsoever.”
This isn’t the first time Val has vehemently denied rumours of cancer.
In 2015 the actor was spotted wearing what some compared to as a tracheostomy tube, around his neck.
The beloved film icon is well and truly on the mend, telling People he’s “doing great.”
Val’s Reddit Q&A also gave him the chance to talk about working with Hollywood’s biggest “Top Guns”.
“He was a sweet heart,” Val said of Tom Cruise.
“We were all quite rowdy me and all the real flyboys and the actors, so I actually felt a little sorry for him cause we all had time to play and date the cute extras and zoom around San Diego in muscle cars, but Tom was always in some scene and never go to play with us…”
