The researchers behind the study monitored 100 joggers and non-joggers – all of them in good health – over 12 years.
They found that those that ran more than four hours per week, and those that didn’t do any exercise whatsoever were more likely to die. Those that had a more leisurely approach to exercise, jogging at a moderate pace no more than a total amount of 2.5 hours were the group least likely to die.
One of the researcher’s on the study said that the study illustrates the dangers of reaching the upper limit for safe exercise. And also that your lazy self is A-OK.
“You don’t actually have to do that much to have a good impact on your health.
“And perhaps you shouldn’t actually do too much,” said Researcher Jacob Louis Marott, from the Frederiksberg Hospital in Copenhagen.
So thanks science. We will take this news with a medicinal glass of red wine and some dark chocolate, both of which are also excellent things that science has justified to us.
