Online experience retailer, RedBalloon, surveyed 2034 Australians to unveil their level of happiness when it comes to everyday life in work and play.
One in four said they are very happy and an additional 62 per cent said they are happy. Just 10 per cent were undecided and four per cent claimed to be unhappy.
Australians aged 65-plus are the happiest, while 25-29 โyear-olds were the least happy.
โThis makes sense as older age groups are most likely to have paid off their home, theyโre families are grown and theyโre just enjoying life,โ said Kristie Buchanan, CEO at RedBalloon.
โMortgages, careers and paving a way to success can get in the way of taking time to appreciate life. Weโre trying to educate Australians that, by taking the time to create enjoyable moments, everyday stresses can fall into the distance. Itโs also good to share the fun. Including friends or family in an experience is the difference between being happy and being very happy.โ
The survey also found that Australians chose spending time with family and friends as the number one thing to put a smile on their dial and people who have a bucket list are more likely to be happy compared to those who donโt.
But perhaps the most unusual finding from the survey was that happy people are more likely to choose chocolate ice cream first from a neopolitan tub, followed by vanilla, and then strawberry.
