Disabled animals might look a little different, but they sure are every bit as perfect as their more able-bodied friends.
That’s the message award-winning Australian photographer Alex Cearns wanted to convey in a powerful new photo-series titled ‘Perfect Imperfection’.
From cats who have lost their eyes to dogs with crushed skulls to goats with broken legs, the images portray rescue animals in a completely new– and still adorable– light.
“I love every animal I have the privilege of photographing, but those perceived as ‘different’ hold a special place in my heart,” Cearns told Metro.
“The tenacity of animals to overcome adversity never ceases to amaze me. They make the most out of life and from them I have learnt so much about always seeing the positive in every situation and never giving up.”
