Jessica Simpson’s second child is due in a matter of weeks… and she’s proud to say she hasn’t gained nearly as much weight this time around.
The singer stacked on 27kgs last year while pregnant with her first child, daughter Maxwell, but this time she’s managed to keep her cravings in check – with amazing results.
“Now I’m working out three times a week, I’ve only gained half of what I did in my first pregnancy!” Jessica told People magazine.
The Weight Watchers spokeswoman has made a conscious effort to stay in shape and has adopted a healthier approach to food and exercise during her second pregnancy.
She admits she “let herself go” last time and didn’t pay enough attention to her diet and fitness regime.
“With my first pregnancy, I really let go. I felt like I deserved to eat whatever I wanted,” she says.
The Texas-born singer tells the magazine she has taken a relaxed approach to her second pregnancy, swapping her high heels for comfy flats.
“I’m a lot less anxious this pregnancy. I’m a lot more easygoing,” she reveals.
“This time around, I’ve been less about the fashion and more about the comfort. With Maxwell, I tried to wear heels the whole time but it hurt my knees. Now I’m wearing more flats.”
In a Weight Watchers commercial released at the end of last year announcing her second pregnancy, Jessica stated that 2013 would be a new start for her, and being healthy is part of that.
“This year is all about new beginnings for me. I lost over 50lbs [23kg] on Weight Watchers and did not have to be perfect to do it,” she said.
“Being healthy has become a part of who I am – which is great timing, because I am having another baby.”
