The Nanny’s Fran Drescher was honoured this week at the Stonewall Community Foundation Vision Awards for her work with gay activism and it was there the wise cracking comedienne talked about all the gays in her life, including her “gay ex-husband.”
“I have a gay art dealer, a gay dermatologist — not to mention my hairdresser,” Drescher began.
“I have a gay ex-husband! People always say to me [of her ex], ‘How did you not know?’ He loves decorating and fashion and clothes, but we actually did have sex a lot.
“I didn’t know at the time, though, that in his mind he was f–king the bartender at Olive Garden.”
Fran Drescher met her first husband Peter Marc Jacobson in high school and they were married at age 21.
The pair was married for just over two decades when Jacobson – who wrote, directed and produced Drescher’s famous sit-com The Nanny – came out to Drescher as being gay and they divorced.
During her well received speech Drescher also took a moment to pay tribute to her current husband Shiva Ayyadurai – the inventor of email FYI.
“Now I’m actually married to this wonderful sophisticated straight man who loves taking off my clothes, that PETA picks out for me,” she said.
