As we struggle to bring together an all-around nutritious, delicious dinner fit to feed a family every other night, Paleo crusader and celebrity chef Pete Evans has one upped us, feeding his kids food that we’d only ever order if we were out (and possibly if someone else was paying).
As reported by Mamamia, Pete took to Instagram to show what his daughter Indii ate for breakfast on Friday, February 17 – and it was as healthy as it was gourmet.
“Little Indii’s breakfast before school today,” he began. “Organic eggs, broccolini, bacon, lettuce, avocado, fish eggs, kraut and the eggs are topped with chimmichurri.”
“The girls’ favourite food is fish eggs so we get a jar every week as a treat… and they have a teaspoon on their breakfasts a few days a week.”
“Indulgence doesn’t always have to mean sweet!”
Just a few days prior, the Evans family had a “throw-together” dinner night, where the girls, who Pete says are “getting more adventurous with their choices”, opted for foods like chicken liver pate, chorizo and turkey terrine.
Y’know, just your average “throw-together” dinner…
Pete’s Instagram showreel of Paleo-perfect meals come at the perfect timing, with News.com.au reporting that Australian nutrition experts are calling for a nationally coordinated approach to combat the nation’s obesity problem.
It’s being reported that 100 different experts from 53 organisations came together to conduct research on junk-food consumption in Oz, and the results could see junk food banned from schools as well as sporting venues.
But fish eggs for breakfast? Our wallets aren’t quite prepared for that…
