2013 saw Nigella Lawson photographed whilst her then-husband was gripping her neck at a restaurant, followed by a devastating divorce and then sitting on the witness stand in a fraud case against her two former employees. But two years on, the 55-year-old is living proof that cream always rises to the top.

The iconic TV chef sat down with Good Housekeeping in anticipation of her new book Simply Nigella and she lifted the lid on how and why she’s never looked, or felt better.

Nigella graces the cover of the magazine looking to be a far cry from the downtrodden woman she was just 18 months ago, and is believed to have gone from a size 16 to a svelte size 12 thanks to a new exercise regime.

“I’m here, right now. That is a great place to be. I’ve always thought that when you cook you have to be present and that’s really how you have to live your life,” she revealed.

And for Nigella, who lost her mother when she 48, her sister at 32 and her first husband when he was 47, simply being here is a blessing all on its own.

“With my family history, I never want to plan for the future. You don’t know what the future holds. And the future never really exists – it’s just a series of nows.”

The mum-of-two is famous for her voluptuous curves and hour-glass figure sported a new and slimmed-down look in the mag – but it wasn’t through diet.

“No one should be put on this earth to go on a diet! No one should be put on this earth to eat themselves ill, either. The point is just to enjoy food.”

“I have never been on a diet to try to lose weight…I’m in better shape. I am doing a rather slow form of yoga now called Iyengar,” she added.

“You should not be judgmental about food. I’ve never been a food snob,” the British bombshell revealed, before telling the publication something which we can all relate to,

“I wouldn’t want a life where I lived on chia seed pudding.”

We couldn’t have said it better Nigella – it’s so good to have you back.
