After cancelling the remaining 21 shows of his Saint Pablo tour and being hospitalised at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles on November 21, more details of Kanye West’s condition continue to surface.
According to TMZ, sources close to the rapper and his reality TV star wife, Kim Kardashian-West, say he is “profoundly depressed and paranoid”.
Not only that, but these sources allege that the 39-year-old has “been dealing with these issues for a long time”.
TMZ are also reporting that the father-of-two’s paranoia came to light after it was said that he believed people, specifically his doctors, were “out go get him” (it’s alleged that Kanye wouldn’t let his doctors touch him upon being hospitalised).
Initially, Yeezy’s doctors told police he was suffering from a temporary psychosis as a result of sleep deprivation and “extreme dehydration”, but these latest reports prove to be even more troubling for rapper-slash-designer.
And during this difficult time, Kim, 36, hasn’t ever left his side.
New reports by Us Weekly claim that Kim has been sleeping by her husband’s hospital bedside, feeding him and giving him around-the-clock TLC.
“Kim has been amazing,” Us Weekly reports. “She knew he couldn’t keep going the way he was. She has been by his side through all of this, helping to feed him and laying by his side.”
As previously reported by Woman’s Day, Kanye’s breakdown may have been triggered by the 2007 death of his mother Donda West (the mum-of-one passed away following complications with a plastic surgery procedure almost 10 years ago this month).
“Any time around the holidays is tough for him, he is an only child. But he was very close to his mum, so this time of year… it’s really difficult,” an unnamed family member told The Mail.
In more positive news, TMZ are also reporting that the father of North, 3, and 11-month-old Saint may be released into the care of his family and personal doctors on Monday, November 28 – exactly one week after his initial hospital admission.
Our thoughts are with Kanye and his family, and we are wishing him a speedy recovery.
