Madonna and Demi’s “Werewolf” Diet

Madonna and Demi’s “Werewolf” Diet

Celebrities have long been known for their freaky fad diets but Madonna and Demi Moore have now embraced weight-loss lunacy – literally.

The celebrity moon diet – which some claim can help you lose almost three kilograms in one day – has been dubbed the “werewolf diet” because it revolves around the lunar calendar.

Although it sounds like something from a horror movie, adherents do not actually have to hunt down innocent people for the cooking pot.

Instead, the concept is based on the belief that the moon affects the water in our bodies and this, if used at the right lunar intervals, can help you lose weight.

The lunar diet advocates a liquid cleanse to be carried out during a full moon, new moon and at the beginning of other moon phases.

The theory goes that because the water in our bodies is affected like the ocean tides and this helps flush toxins from our bodies.

While there are various websites promoting the lunar diet, the general instructions are consistent – consume only liquid at the start of each moon phase and continue this detox for 24 hours or three days.

But Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian and Spokesperson for the Dietitians Association of Australia Melanie McGrice warns that the werewolf diet is barking madness.

“Don’t follow this diet,” she says.

“Any diet that excludes core food groups won’t meet nutritional needs which is dangerous and could cause long-term damage.

“There is no research to support the lunar diet,” she continues. “It’s just another fad diet. If people need assistance with diet, whether for weight management or whatever their goals are, the best way is to connect with an accredited practising dietitian.”

Both Madonna and Demi have been known to engage in extreme dieting with Demi, 51, previously defending a Master Cleanse liquid diet and 56-year-old Madonna making headlines for sticking to Tracey Anderson’s Dynamic Eating Plan, which consists of as little as 500 calories per day.
