Jessica Alba, actress and Honest Company founder, has found herself in hot water once again after announcing the voluntary recall of her companies Organic Baby Power, which may “present a possible health risk”.

An announcement of the E-tailer’s site explained that “all lots” of the product are to be recalled after testing revealed a “possible contamination with microorganisms, including some species associated with skin infections or eye infections.”

“With the full knowledge and under the guidance of the FDA, we’ve decided to voluntarily recall this product out of an abundance of caution,” co-founder Christopher Gavigan said in a video posted to the website earlier this week.

It’s not the first time Jessica’s eco-friendly enterprise has come under fire. In fact, The Honest Company have faced several lawsuits since being founded in 2011.

In September 2015, a slew of consumers took to social media with sunburnt snaps, blaming Honest’s “inefficient” sunscreen for their sun damage, and warning others not to purchase the protectant.

At the time, an investigation by NBC5 in Chicago found that the product’s zinc oxide levels sat at 9.3 per cent, when the US standard is between 18 and 25.

According to People, the sun-safe formula has since been changed.

The mother-of-two, who is said to be in discussions of selling the company, believes that the seeming target on the company’s back boils down to her status.

“If an organization wants to bring awareness to their cause, I’m an easy target and our brand is an easy target obviously because I get different kind of attention than other brands would,” said the 35-year-old on Today.

“We stand by our ingredients … and we’re pretty optimistic that we’re going to win every case.”
