She goes without food for 16 hours everyday

While she sticks to a healthy diet, thereโ€™s also a strict eating habit Jen adheres to that she credits for helping her look and feel her best.

โ€œI do intermittent fasting, so thereโ€™s no food in the morning,โ€ she told the UKโ€™s Radio Times this week.

โ€œI noticed a big difference in going without solid food for 16 hours.โ€

And sheโ€™s also into a big wellness trend thatโ€™s been going off this year โ€“ drinking celery juice.

โ€œToday, I woke up and had a celery juice,โ€ she said.

โ€œThen I started to brew some coffee, but I donโ€™t drink coffee that early.โ€

Fans of celery juice say the drink aids digestion, but heath experts warn there is no scientific evidence to support the benefits of the trendy habit.

She works her butt off (literally) in the gym

Jen works out most days of the week and does a mix of gym classes, weights and resistance exercises with her trainer, as well as cardio sessions.

โ€œI go in and out of [certain exercises]. I do The Class by Taryn Toomey, and Iโ€™m back in the gym with my trainer, throwing heavy boulders around and pushing medicine balls and wiggling and shaking that big rope thing โ€“ battle ropes,โ€ she told Vogue in 2017.

โ€œYes! Theyโ€™re hard! But itโ€™s fun. I started doing that when I was filming Weโ€™re the Millers and I really liked it. It kicks your butt, though, so I dip in and out of that throughout the year. And then I do 45 mins of intervals on my elliptical. I raise the incline, run for two mins, walk for one, run for two. . . and I do it for 20 minutes straight until Iโ€™m just drenched.โ€

Jenโ€™s personal trainer Leyon Azubuike uses a training technique called โ€œperiodisationโ€, which allows him to adjust workouts based on his clientโ€™s schedule.

โ€œDepending on where we are in that cycle dictates the duration and intensity of Jenโ€™s workout,โ€ Leyon told Womenโ€™s Health.

โ€œIf I know Jen isnโ€™t filming anything, itโ€™s a different phase than if I know she has something coming up tomorrow. If sheโ€™s going to be walking up to receive an award, Iโ€™m not going to destroy her legs in the gym the day before.โ€

As for the types of exercises they do, itโ€™s all about getting fit and strong.

โ€œWe box, we jump rope, we do strength training, we do a lot of work with resistance bands โ€ฆ weโ€™re big on resistance bands,โ€ says Leyon.

โ€œWe rotate these things so itโ€™s always hard, sheโ€™s consistently being challenged. Iโ€™m a big fan of switching things up, so the body reacts in a positive way and changes.

โ€œEvery core exercise I throw at her, she dominates it. She can hold a two- or three-minute plank rather easily.โ€

When it comes to diet, Leyon recommends โ€œavocados, coconut oil, salmon, fish oil โ€ฆ anything thatโ€™s a good form of fat is great.โ€

But Jen isnโ€™t afraid to let her body rest when it needs to

When you work out as much as Jen does, itโ€™s important to ensure your body has time to rest and recuperate after intense exercise.

โ€œOf course I take days off. Itโ€™s important to rest the body,โ€ Jen said.

And sheโ€™s also not afraid to take long breaks.

โ€œI can go a whole week saying, โ€˜Iโ€™m not going to work outโ€™. Your body will tell you what it needs,โ€ she said.

โ€œItโ€™s hard work, you know. You work out, you just take care of yourself and you exercise.โ€

But while she looks amazing, Jen says her main motivation for sticking to her strict regimen is because she always wants to feel her best.

โ€œI feel really beautiful when I finish a great workout. You eat right, you sleep, youโ€™re happy,โ€ she said.

โ€œBecause Iโ€™ve taken care of my body, my endorphins are going, my blood is pumping. Iโ€™m taking care of the one body I have.โ€
