When you’ve reached the level of success that Jamie Oliver has, you have access to pretty much anything, a lavish mansion, expensive cars and a legion of fans but as he turned 40, Jamie Oliver gifted himself something you can’t buy – health and wellbeing.
In an interview with The Sunday Times UK Magazine the celebrity chef revealed that he’s lost over 12kgs thanks to some very simple steps.
The dad-of-four combined traditional lifestyle changes like cutting back on sugar, exercising more regularly and opting for nutritious foods, but he also found the importance of a good night sleep and consuming seaweed as paramount in his weight-loss.
He explained to the publication: “When you come to 40, you think you’ve got a while, but it’s ticking, you start to realize that you’re half dead, so let’s get on with it.”
Adding, “I want to get as old as possible, and to do that you’ve got to live a certain way. That’s the rules of the game.”
Jamie went on to address his strange addition of seaweed to his diet. Chatting to the Radio Times, “I thought seaweed was hippie, globetrotting stuff but our ancestors ate seaweed. It’s got a load of iodine and it’s the most nutritious vegetable in the world.”
“It’s like dynamite – fibre, nutrients, all the minerals, aids digestion – unbelievable,” he continued.
But the key ingredient to his phenomnal body transformation was sleep! Getting some quality Zzz’s attributed significantly to the chef’s lifestyle turnaround.
“Sleep has become profoundly important to me, I was never getting enough of it and I didn’t understand the value of it.”
“And I treat it like work. Just like I do with little Buddy [his 4-year-old son]: When I tell him to get to bed, I get to bed! I have little vibrating things that shake me when it’s 10pm,” Jamie revealed.
We’ll order a large serve of sleep with a side of seaweed please!
