The 29-year-old blonde bombshell has shed half her body weight – dropping down to 61kg from 127kg – after undergoing gastric sleeve surgery in May 2012.
The irreversible procedure saw 80 per cent of her stomach removed, which has ultimately affected the amount of food she is able to consume.
“Imagine that bloated feeling after Christmas lunch and times it by 10,” she explained to Woman’s Day.
Kate said she now experiences this feeling after eating only two slices of pizza, post-op. “I still can’t eat and drink at the same time.”
The singer said that she couldn’t be happier with how far she has come on her weightloss journey.
“I burst into tears when I saw the results of Woman’s Day’s shoot. I still can’t believe I was standing on a beach laughing … and also looking good!” she told the mag, also sharing that “she would often cry herself to sleep and has never liked what she saw in the mirror – until now.”
Kate remembered struggling with body confidence issues from as young as 5, and after nearly fifteen years of an endless battle with her weight, yo-yo fad diets and even extreme liposuction, she admitted that this is the moment she’s been waiting for.
“Ultimately, I need to accept the fact that I’m never going to look like Jennifer Hawkins wearing a bikini…but I’m on a mission to wear one to the beach in 2015!”
Following her transformation and new zest for life, Kate said she is determined to continue her weight loss journey and looking forward to relaunching her music career by working on a new album.
