Rumours of a new baby for Grant and Cheryl Denyer have been in full swing since July’s Logie awards. Now Grant has added more fuel to the fire on air during Wednesday’s 2Day FM breakfast show.
A listener called in to Em, Grant & Ed‘s ‘Truth Booth’ segment to ask Grant if another child was on the cards for the Denyers when, after a lot of diversion attempts, Grant dropped a twin bomb!
Grant and Cheryl loved up on the Logies red carpet in July.
While no definite confirmation has been made by the pair, last month, Grant, 40, couldn’t resist dropping a big hint on the Logies red carpet when he pointed at his wife’s belly, before Chezzi admitted to Woman’s Day they were heading off on a romantic holiday to Mauritius to spend some quality time together before their brood becomes even bigger.
“The girls would be great big sisters – they’re very keen for us to have another child. They’d love a little boy!” Chezzi revealed.
The Denyers have certainly got tongues wagging, and Wednesday’s ‘Truth Booth’ session had a caller asking if the rumours were true and, given the rules of the booth, Grant had to answer honestly … but not before trying to change to the topic.
“People come up to me all the time and say ‘you’ve got two girls are you happy with that?’ Like I wouldn’t be happy with having two girls,” Grant says.
The ‘girl thing’ is sore point for Grant ever since the moment he announced that his first born was to be a girl.
“I had a guy say to me ‘Oh, ya disappointed?’ And I was like ‘I’m going to punch you in the freaking face, are you serious?'”
While the ‘girl talk’ was lovely, co-host Em wasn’t letting him off the hook that easily, forcing Grant to answer the actual question.
After a bit more prompting from Ed Grant finally admitted that just last week the conversation around adding to their brood was initiated by Chez.
“I don’t know if we’ve completely closed the door. Exactly …” was Grant’s response.
“We have about 17 sets of twins in our extended family tree and it’s been a while since we’ve had some, so I have this deep down feeling it’s gonna be twins.”
Two Logies, two babies? What a year!
It looks set to be a baby boom at 2Day FM with co-host Em Rusciano revealing on Sunday that she is pregnant, just over a year after she suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage.
On Monday morning, the 2day FM radio host thanked her fans with a second baby bump snap and revealed she is expecting a baby boy!
“Thank you for the bajillion messages of congrats you’ve all sent. It’s a bloody happy time for my fam and I. The other bonus- No more sucking my guts in at work,” she wrote on Instagram.
“It’s been a hectic vomit themed time but I think I’m out the other side now, oh and it’s a BOY!”
Meanwhile, Grant has also opened up about the lows of his battle with depression and drug addiction, revealing he spiralled into a dangerous addiction to prescription painkillers after a monster truck accident in 2008. “It was a time where I didn’t really give a sh*t if I lived or died,” he said. “I felt like I had nothing to live for.”
