Earlier this week, actor Alec Baldwin and wife Hilaria announced the safe arrival of their third child, a son named Leonardo Ángel Charles Baldwin.
Now, mum Hilaria has taken to Instagram with an honest selfie captured just one day into her son’s life, detailing her body’s recovery post birth.
“I took this yesterday when Leonardo was about 24 hours old,” the yoga teacher wrote beside a mirror selfie showing her belly on day one of her life as a mother-of-three. “I did the same thing right after Rafael was born.”
She continues: “It always makes me a bit nervous to do something like this, but I feel that in the age of such strong body shaming, I want to do all that I can to normalise a real body and promote healthy self-esteem.”
Now and then: The mother shared an almost identical selfie two weeks before giving birth.
“Many of you know that I love to show the process of life’s experiences on the body and I am a firm believer in how a good diet and the right balance of exercise make us happy, healthy, and strong,” the 32-year-old went on.
“So from here on, I want to dedicate the majority of my #366daysoflivingclearly #hilarialcm daily posts to getting back in shape and I invite you to do it with me.”
The wife of Alec Baldwin, 58, then took advantage of the social media platform to answer some frequently asked questions about her delivery.
“Did I have a c section?: No, I pushed him out,” she writes.
“Where are all the pads for bleeding? I took them out briefly to snap this pic as there is a limit to how much you need to see. Where am I? in the hospital room bathroom #glamour” she adds jokingly.
The family’s newest addition was born at 6:51pm.
Upon seeing the brunette beauty’s raw post, fans began to comment with messages of love and support.
“You are beautiful and amazingly brave for doing this! I’ve been struggling for 7 months to lose the baby weight and feel confident and I haven’t but your photo has made me feel empowered,” wrote one user.
“THANK YOU from all the moms who struggle with image right after doing the most amazing act that is to give life,” another added.
“While we are extremely happy about our bundle of joy there is a small shadow of our struggle with our healing bodies. Thank you for showing us that you are just as normal as the rest of us.”

And while most comments left by fans carried tones of positivity, some took a different approach.
“Normalizing what? I know that after each one of my four babies I certainly did not look like that after 24 hours. It’s so unrealistic.”
“And it would be a freakin miracle if my bra and underwear matched on a good day, never mind 24 hours postpartum. Perhaps instead of focusing on getting back into shape, she should focus on her newborn son and being a mum.”

The proud mama announced the arrival of her sweet new addition via Instagram earlier this week.
Alongside an adorable snap of the mother and son, who was born in New York on Monday, sharing their first cuddle, she wrote: “We are so pleased to introduce you to our new baby, Leonardo Ángel Charles Baldwin. It was such a special day bringing him into this world.”
Both Alec and Hilaria, clearly besotted with their newest child, have since continued uploading a stream of snaps.
Most recently, the 30 Rock star shared the moment the three siblings came together for the first time with the heart-warming caption: “Everyone’s here…”
