While it was only in its early stages and in one breast, Christina made the brave decision to have her breasts removed with a bilateral mastectomy in 2008 after she tested positive for the dangerous BRCA1 breast cancer gene.
Indeed, the star wasn’t going to take any chances after her beloved mother, Nancy Priddy, survived breast cancer.
Speaking at the premiere of her latest flick, the National Lampoons remake Vacation, in LA on Monday evening, the 43-year-old starlet admitted she was thrilled to be cancer-free seven years on from her diagnosis.
“I’m just grateful, super grateful,” the mother-of-one beamed to reporters on the red carpet.
As for how her health scare affected her perspective, the Married… with Children actress explained, “It changed me for a while, and now I’m just living life, living my life.”
And, true to her word, the talented beauty has fulfilled that wish. In 2013, she married musician Martyn LeNoble and the pair are the proud parents to four-year-old daughter Sadie Grace.
She’s also won a legion of fans thanks to her roles in popular flicks like Anchorman, Anchorman 2 and Going the Distance.
However, in a new interview with ETonline, the blonde beauty interestingly revealed that she passed up the offer to star in the 2001 blockbuster Legally Blonde.
“What a stupid move that was, right?” She quipped, before adding that Reese Witherspoon was the perfect fit to play Elle Woods.
“Reese deserved that. She did a much better job than I ever could, and so that’s her life. That’s her path.” What a truly humble woman!
