Supermodel, beauty guru, business mogul and all-round babe, Elle Macpherson has always had a top spot on our list when it comes to fitspo goals.
And at 55, that remains as true as ever.
“When I was younger, I believed beauty and youth went hand in hand,” says the homegrown stunner, who’s mum to Flynn, 22, and Cy, 17, with her ex Arpad Busson.
“I’ve seen attitudes change and people focusing on wellness rather than youth, which is refreshing.”
It’s the philosophy behind Elle’s health range WelleCo, which offers supplements made from plant-based sustainable ingredients, sourced from all over the world.
Here, Elle spills on health, wellness and rocking a bikini like no other.
NW: You always look amazing! What’s your favourite way to stay fit?
Elle: Wellness is the new fitness! I believe in doing things you love with purpose and joy.
In the mornings, I go to the ocean for a swim or I go for a walk in the woods near my home with my dog, Moon. In the evenings, I love to do a yoga class to cleanse my body and mind.
If I’m on the road, I’ll bring my running shoes along and go for a jog or a walk – I love to explore my new surroundings and soak up the outdoors.
How have your views on age changed over the years?
I personally believe there’s beauty at every age. Children teach you this. I thought there was never a cuter age than one, then it was two, then three, etc.
Now my boys are 17 and 22, and they are more beautiful than ever to me, inside and out.
What’s your hot tip for looking killer in a bikini?
Finding a bathing suit that suits your body type is super-important. Everyone is different, so sometimes a sexy one-piece is as good as a bikini.
Having a great cover-up helps if you’re feeling exposed, so I always choose something that highlights my strengths.
I wear a cowboy hat or panama to protect my face and hair.
What is one easy thing we can do to feel better?
In the mornings, I tend to resist using my phone first thing, for at least the first hour after waking.
I take a little time to meditate, and set daily intentions and goals to achieve. This helps enormously.
How has your approach to health and wellness evolved?
Keep it simple: Sleep, sunshine, lots of water, clean eating and smile! It changes the whole attitude of your spirit.
If you’re consistent with anything that you do, those little steps make a big difference at the end of the month.

Elle’s diet rules
Snack the smart way: “My go-to snack is a WelleCo Nourishing Protein smoothie made with homemade hemp or almond milk, or water and avocado. I also take our WelleCo Sleep Welle Calming tea to get a good night’s sleep.”
Start the day off right: “I like to start my day by sipping on hot water and lemon, followed by two teaspoons of my WelleCo Super Elixir Greens with filtered water,” the model tells us.
Get planty!: “I eat a largely vegan diet,” says Elle, who opts for “anything packed with organic, seasonal plant- based ingredients”.
Mix it up: While Elle usually prefers vegan foods – raw oatmeal with hemp milk is a breakfast fave – she’ll sometimes have “poached eggs on sunflower or wheat-free dark rye bread with half an avocado”.
