Sophia Sandoval is just three years old but she is already the world’s strongest little super hero!
Last Friday, the toddler from San Antonio, Texas had her last chemotherapy treatment after a yearlong battle with medulloblastoma, a type of brain tumor.
To celebrate the occasion Sophia dressed up as one of her heroes, Wonder Woman and a photo of her was shared on to the Team Sophia Facebook page.
The photo – in which Sophia holds up a sign that reads, “My last day of chemo … It was tough, but I was tougher” – received more than 100 million likes and thousands of shares.
The inspirational image even managed to catch the attention of Lynda Carter, the actress who played Wonder Woman in the 70s TV series.
Carter shared the photo on her own page and captioned the shot: “A real-life little WW [Wonder Woman]! Let’s show her some love.”
Carter’s post was “an inspiration,” Sophia’s mother, Rossio Sandoval, told Today. “It makes us feel so, so happy.”
Since finishing her treatment Sophia has reportedly regained much of her strength and will undergo MRI tests in the coming weeks to confirm that she is cancer-free.
Rossio also told website Buzzfeed that the internet support was unexpected but very welcome.
“The first time we shared the picture, it was for family and people who follow her on her page,” said Rossio. “But now that it has gone viral, we count it as a blessing that it will spread awareness of childhood cancer.”
