Just months after giving birth to her first child, daughter Luna Gypsy, fashion designer Camilla Franks has revealed that she has been dealt a shocking blow: she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
“I start on this journey humble but resilient; I would be lying if I said I wasn’t scared but I am fearlessly determined to do whatever it takes by focusing on my body, mind and spirit as I take my first trusting steps towards recovery,” Camilla reveals of tackling her diagnosis head on.
“As you know, my beautiful daughter Luna arrived a few months ago, and it is her smile and warmth that remind me this is a challenge I will embark on with courage – for her and my fiancé as well as myself.”
And while Camilla prepares to come up against her biggest challenge yet, she’s not the first new mum to be hit with a life-threatening diagnosis after giving birth to a newborn baby.
In 2016, mum-of-two Farrah Millar‘s life changed forever; not only did she become a mum to a gorgeous little boy, but just 18 hours after the birth, Farrah was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer.
“On March 30, 2016, the day after my son was born, I was diagnosed with Stage 3B, Invasive Ductal Carcinoma – more commonly known as breast cancer,” Farrah told us.
“If there’s one thing that’s going to tangle and twist your life and turn you inside out and upside down, it’s cancer.”
She later underwent a troublesome double mastectomy and sadly, her relationship with her partner at the time broke down. Farrah suddenly found herself a single mum-of-two in the middle of her cancer treatment, relying on friends and family to get her through.

All through this experience, Farrah never complained or let her setbacks get the better of her.
She turned her life around, and despite a rocky road with her treatment, she couldn’t be happier.
“Everyone has their own personal pain – their backstory, their sadness, their inescapable weight of woes and worries that they push down and forge through… because we just have to!” she said.
“In being a mum, we really find ourselves.”
Similar to Farrah’s kick-cancer attitude, Camilla’s coming at cancer with strength, resilience and positivity.
“With the incredible love and support of my little family I have no doubt I will beat this,” she says.
“I am so grateful for those around me, who have already been such an amazing support to me following this news.”
