Sunrise had a tense moment this morning when David Koch accused his female co-hosts of being “nasty” about Amal Clooney.
The seriously impressive human-rights lawyer had her twins this morning and Angela Cox’ entertainment segment on the news was interjected by Samantha Armytage.
“Come on — I bet she’s already back to her pre-pregnancy weight today,” she joked.
Natalie Barr agreed it would have been “by lunch time!”
Sam also doubted Amal would ever lose her temper.
“As if Amal would yell,” she said.
Angela thought she’d “do it in a ladylike fashion” – because let’s be honest, that woman seems so composed she puts the Dalai Lama to shame.
For some reason, David took offence at this seemingly positive banter.
“Now you girls,” he said in his best condescending voice. “Give her a break.”
Natalie wasn’t having any of it and refuted the pair weren’t being mean.
“You’re being nasty. No, I think she’ll be a lovely mother.”
“We’re not being nasty. We were joking!” she said while she screwed up her face.
The pair awkwardly laughed as they struggled to see how Kochie’s belief Amal would be a good mum had anything to do with what they said.
The 39-year-old British-Lebanese lawyer and 56-year-old actor opted for a timeless set of names for the brand new twins – Ella and Alexander Clooney.
The new parents-of-two chose to share their happy news in a quick-witted statement to People, which also revealed that new-mum Amal is “happy and doing fine”.
“This morning Amal and George welcomed Ella and Alexander Clooney into their lives. Ella, Alexander and Amal are all healthy, happy and doing fine. George is sedated and should recover in a few days,” the statement read.
