It should be the happiest time of her life now that Australia can know she’s in love with bachie Lee, but there is a very dark cloud hanging over Georgia Love and her family.
In last night’s finale her mum Belinda was missing, unable to make the trip to Singapore because of her aggressive pancreatic cancer. And earlier this week it was confirmed by Channel 10 that Belinda had been admitted to palliative care,
This morning, as Georgia does the media rounds with her man Lee Elliott, she is also answering questions about her mum, who last night she described as the family’s glue.
“She’s not really (ok),” she told Kiis FM’s Kyle and Jackie Oon air. “We’re all just being as strong and positive as we can be in this situation.
The only thing I’m really thankful for is that I’ve finally got Lee to be able to be by my side through all of this because it’s been extremely difficult going through this and just having him on the other end of the phone,
“We’ve still got a lot of difficult times ahead…”
Her new love Lee has also posted a tribute to Georgia’s mum on Instagram, which talks about the mixed emotions of the day after the finale.
His caption read:
*”Words cannot express just how much I truly wish this was a very different post.
Today is such a mix of emotions. It’s actually not possible for me to be any happier to finally tell the whole world that I have found my soul mate, my best friend and the love of my life in you @georgiealove
You are my everything and my world!
But at the same time I could not be any more saddened by what you and your family are going through right now. It most certainly puts everything else into perspective and has only reiterated just how much I absolutely want to be there for you & be your rock as you have been mine today and always!
I feel truly blessed to have finally been able to meet the absolutely extraordinary woman who is your mother. I can certainly now see where your strength, love for life, sense of humour and beauty both inside & out come from!”*”
All cancers are harsh but pancreatic cancer is particularly so with a lower survival rate if not diagnosed in the early stages.
Georgia, 28, has revealed she received special dispensation to speak to her mum, who was undergoing chemotherapy, during the filming of the Bachelorette.
She told WHO magazine: “The circumstances were unique. So the production team was very good with keeping me in touch with mum.” But, she adds, she was banned from discussing the boyfriend candidates with her mum.
“Advice was off-limits, but I was able to talk to her about her health, our family and our home,” she said.
