Paula Strawn decided to start painting helmets after she witnessed how unhappy some children looked in their plain white protective coverings.

She started covering them in colourful kid-friendly designs and soon had a booming online business. So far, she has created more than 1300 custom-decorated helmets for kids around the world and says her designs completely change the way people interact with kids wearing medical helmets.

“I truly believe that a fun and friendly design on these very useful yet unattractive helmets is an attitude changer for all who come in contact with baby,” Paula says on her website. “Plus, who am I kidding? I have a blast painting them!”
