Walking the red carpet at an awards show is no easy task, but Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge looked like a Hollywood regular at the 2017 BAFTA Awards.
Accompanied by hubby Prince William, the royal pair made it just in time for the ceremony, despite only living around the corner at Kensington Palace.
The Duchess really stole the show in a custom-made, floor-length gown from British designer Alexander Queen, who also designed her wedding dress in 2011. Despite the wintery conditions in London (it snowed over the weekend!) Catherine braved the cold with an off-the-shoulder gown embellished with green and violet flowers, and satin ribbon detailing.
Not to be outshone by his wife, Prince William, who’s been the President of the BAFTAs since February 2010, chose a dapper outfit. His classic tuxedo was paired with velvet dress slippers, a subtle but exciting change from usual dress shoes which we hope to see more of.
She completed her look with the Alexander McQueen Heart Clasp Box Clutch in black satin, an elaborate diamond bracelet and, to add an extra touch of glamour to the special night, a pair of dazzling pear-shaped diamond earrings reportedly on loan from the Queen. This isn’t the first time she’s worn the impressive earrings, she also popped them on for the 100 Women in Hedge Funds dinner in 2011.
The Duchess prefers doing her own her makeup for events (like her wedding) and this time around she opted for a classic Old Hollywood look. Rosy blush, glossy nude lips and black eyeliner in a feline flick was fitting for such a revered event.
Always with her eye on the details, Catherine chose a low chignon for her brunette hair, with loose tendrils framing her face.
This is undoubtedly one of Duchess Catherine’s most sophisticated looks, and we hope she kicks up her heels and has an amazing night.
