Although Saturday Night Live (or SNL as it’s affectionately known) doesn’t currently air on television in Australia, many Aussies will no doubt be aware of some of the show’s most famous alumni, with some of the world’s funniest people getting their start on the US late night show.

Former cast members who returned for the special occasion include Eddie Murphy, Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, Billy Crystal, Steve Martin, Will Ferrell and more recently Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Jimmy Fallon, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

In addition to the funny folk though, the series has a tradition of having at least one celebrity guest-host every week and this many of them returned for the star-studded reunion including dad-to-be  Justin Timberlake, funny man Jim Carey, five-time host Alec Baldwin, Tom Hanks, Kerry Washington, Emma Stone, Miley Cyrus, Bradley Cooper and Taylor Swift.
