Perhaps it was London’s sudden ‘heat-wave’ (24 degrees!) that inspired bride-to-be Meghan Markle to reach for not just one, but two pieces from iconic Australian fashion designers for her most recent outing.
The 36-year-old looked the picture of royal sophistication as she, with her fiance Prince Harry, met with delegates of the Commonwealth Youth Forum on Wednesday, wearing a black and white striped dress by New York-based brand Altuzarra, a black blazer by Australian designer Camilla and Marc and a stripped cross-body bag from Aussie fashion stalwart Oroton.
Pulling the ultimate fashion-girl move, Meghan wore the $699 Dimmer Camillia and Marc blazer (one of the brand’s a cult items) draped over her shoulders, while the $295 Avalon Zip Top Crossbody bag by Oroton rested by her hip.
Iconic Aussie leather label Oroton will undoubtedly be pleased with the boost from Meghan’s endorsement, the company declared voluntary administration in November 2017.
In March it was announced a Sydney-based investor had won a bid to salvage the brand, a massive win for Australian buyers who have loved the label and it’s classic accessories.
