Revenge first appeared on Australian screens on Channel Seven in 2011, and it gripped viewers right from the get-go.
Now, fans will be happy to know the beloved show is available for streaming in Australia!
The drama show ran for four seasons between 2011 and 2015 and was critically acclaimed, notching up multiple award nominations and wins.
Not only that, but two of the main cast members, Emily Van Camp and Josh Bowman, are now married with two children! Their onscreen chemistry translated to real life and they’ve been together since 2011.
What is the plot of the show Revenge?
Revenge follows main character Emily Thorne who pretends to be a new resident in the highly wealthy town of the Hamptons. To everyone in the town, she seems like a normal, kind and sophisticated girl, but she has a dark family history.
Emily seeks revenge on the families who wronged her father 20 years earlier, framing him for a crime he didn’t commit.
But while she’s there, Emily uncovers the many intricate secrets, lies and affairs of the other residents, and often finds herself in multiple dangerous situations that could divide the town and unravel the truth before she has the chance to exact her revenge.
The television series is based on the 1844 novel The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas.
Will there be a Revenge season 5?
Unfortunately for fans of the show, Revenge was cancelled after four seasons in 2015, and will not return for season five.
Showrunner and executive producer of the show, Sunil Nayar, confirmed the news of the show’s cancellation to Entertainment Weekly.
“We can officially tell our fans that this will be the end of the story,” he said.
“We’ve been talking to the network, and we all just wanted to make sure that we felt very confident. Now that everybody has seen the finale — which is fabulous — everybody understands that as much as we all adore the show, it has hit exactly the mark it needed to to end.”
Did Revenge have an ending?
During the series finale, Emily finally achieved her long-awaited vengeance on the town, with her nemesis and fellow main character Victoria Grayson being killed.
Emily, who had recently revealed the news that she was actually Amanda Clarke, married Jack Porter and the pair seemingly lived happily ever after, sailing away from the Hamptons on a sailboat.
“I know now that revenge brings only darkness,” Emily’s voiceover said at the end of the finale episode.
“I couldn’t see the light until I considered my father’s advice to try and forgive. It’s not easy.”
