The beloved drama Vera is set to come to a dramatic ending after 14 seasons in 2025. And Woman’s Day secured the first photos for fans. Here’s your first peek and the lowdown on everything we know about the show’s season finale.
VERA SEASON FINALE SNEAK PEEKS
Pictured on set filming the finale season, Brenda Blethyn, aka DCI Vera Stanhope, looked reassuringly no-nonsense as she strode with purpose in her familiar trench coat, while her stressed sidekick Joe Ashworth (David Leon) was seen taking a phone call outside a rundown building.
HOW MANY EPISODES WILL BE IN SEASON 14?
According to TV insiders, season 14 will be the final instalment of the homely crime drama and will feature two episodes.
On leaving the show, Brenda told ITV, “Working on Vera has been a joy from beginning to end, and I’m sad to be saying cheerio. But I’m so proud of our achievements over the last 14 years.

WHAT IS THE PREMISE OF VERA?
Vera is a British crime drama based on the Vera Stanhope series of novels by author Ann Cleeves. The popular show is centred around none other than Vera, a nearly retired detective chief inspector of the (fictional) Northumberland & City Police, who is passionately obsessive about her work.
The much-loved character is often plodding along, looking a bit dishevelled. However, her mind is calculating and sharp. She often picks up on small errors or details her team members’ miss.
People love Vera for many reasons, including how it is a sharp detour from today’s typical popular programs. One fan says, “No romance, no sex, just plain good mystery and terrific acting.”
Apparently, if you enjoy “brainy mysteries and fabulous cinematography” then Vera is not to be missed!
WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT SEASON 14?
Vera season 14 will be led once again by Brenda as DCI Vera Stanhope. David Leon is returning as Joe Ashworth. Rhiannon Clements will also return as detective Steph Duncan. However, since ITV only made the announcement on January 21, 2024, we still don’t have a lot of info into the plot and other details.
It’s expected that new episodes will be dropping in early 2025.
