He’s no stranger to a TV scandal, but The Voice coach Guy Sebastian managed to cause quite the stir when he went on a lengthy radio tirade against SAS Australia last month.
But Woman’s Day hears there’s a reason Guy, who shares two sons Hudson, eight, and Archer, six, with his wife Jules, has been so critical of the hit show – he secretly quit!
A source close to the Truth singer, 39, reveals he was originally on top of Seven’s wishlist for the show, following his departure from Nine, but the former reality contestant is said to have not been willing to get his hands dirty!
“On paper he was the perfect candidate, well known and loved, but I don’t think he realised how real and raw the show was,” a source dishes.
“There were serious discussions about him joining and he originally loved the idea, but when it became clear just how gruelling and confronting things would be, he just backed out.”
And now the show has become a runaway success it seems Guy might have a bee in his bonnet about bailing.
The singer has been scathing about the series’ physical requirements, and even branded Nick “Honey Badger” Cummins’ clash with Sabrina Frederick as “pretty p**s poor”.
“My wife and I run a foundation where we deal with domestic violence,” he said on radio.
“I think it makes it very difficult to tell your kids, to tell your boy, ‘You never hit a girl. It doesn’t matter what the circumstance is, you just never, ever hit a girl. Violence against women is always wrong.'”
