Young Aussie stars propelling their careers and building on their success is something we always love to see.
So, hearing the news that Neighbours actress Olivia Junkeer’s new show has been picked up by streaming juggernaut Netflix basically has us jumping on our sofas ala Tom Cruise on the Oprah Winfrey Show.
The show in question is called Why Are You Like This, a six-part series originally produced by the ABC and written by Naomi Higgins (Get Krackin’), Mark Bonanno, and Humyara Mahbub.
Why Are You Like This follows three 20-something best friends Penny, Mia, who is played by Olivia, and Austin, living in Melbourne.
Olivia stars as Mia in the new comedy series.

If the pilot episode is anything to go by, you’re guaranteed to be crying from laughter and cringing in horror the entire watch.

(ABC)The series was originally part of ABC & Screen Australia’s Fresh Blood pilot series back in 2018 before being green-lit the following year to be produced into the delightfully awkward and unashamed brash series it is now.
The comedy is set to air on ABC TV Plus and iview from February 16th, with Netflix announcing the addition to its service via Twitter.
“#WhyAreYouLikeThis, a new 6-part series about three twentysomething friends navigating the sociopolitical hellscape of Melbourne. Premiering in Australia February 16 on @ABCTV Plus with a global launch later on Netflix,” the announcement stated.
Olivia shared the tweet on her Instagram page to relish in the news, adding the caption: “So excited for you all to see.”
Exactly when the series will launch on Netflix is yet to be announced however, the pilot created in 2018 is available to watch on ABC iview now if you’re too impatient to wait it out. Honestly, we wouldn’t blame you.
