Frasier fans your prayers have been answered, your favourite show has been rebooted!
The psychiatrist-turned-radio host is back, finally answering our burning question.
Did he stay in Chicago with his love interest Charlotte or is he back in Boston where it all began?
When TV WEEK talked with Dr. Frasier Crane in 2017, he talked about how he would,
“Like the idea that he left Seattle to go to Chicago and be with Laura Linney and of course he got there and blew that too,” Kelsey laughs.
What is Frasier about?
If you haven’t watched Frasier yet, you’re in for a real treat. Because Frasier is actually a spin-off from the series, Cheers!
Which follows the lives of the staff and patrons of Cheers, a fictional bar in Boston. Frasier was one of those patrons before he literally moved to Seattle for his own series and his character’s fresh start.
Dr. Frasier Crane is a physiatrist turned radio host, and not a very good one at that. As his controlling behavior in The Dr. Frasier Crane Show turns into a chaotic mess, but his town still listens and loves him for it!
What is the Frasier reboot about?
Get ready for Frasier in the “next chapter of his life as he returns to Boston with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge, and an old dream or two to finally fulfil.”
Frasier’s ex-wife from Cheers is set to make an appearance at their son’s birthday party, where a war of words is fought.
“What begins as a fun party with friends and family, inevitably becomes a Lilith and Frasier showdown for the ages,” the episode description reads.
What new characters are in Frasier?
We get to see Frasier’s grown-up son Freddy, who “rejected following in his father’s footsteps – dropping out of college to become a fireman – and he’s never looked back.”
“Until now when recent troubles have left him with no one to turn to in his life.”
We also get to meet “Frasier’s old college buddy turned university professor.” Will this mischievous British boozy character steer him off his path or shake up his routine for the better?
Will Niles come back in Frasier?
Frasier’s pretentiously funny younger brother Niles Crane unfortunately won’t be coming back.
“Uh, I’d like a petit filet mignon, very lean; not so lean that it lacks flavor, but not so fat that it leaves drippings on the plate. And I don’t want it cooked; just lightly seared on either side, pink in the middle; not true pink, but not a mauve either, something in between; bearing in mind, the slightest error either way, and it’s ruined,” Niles to a waitress.
Grammer told People magazine that “David (who plays Niles Crane) basically decided he wasn’t really interested in repeating the performance of Niles.”
Sadly due to Frasier’s father Martin Crane played by John Mahoney passing away in real life, he will not be in the reboot.
Where and when can I watch the Frasier reboot in Australia?
Australians not to worry, you too can watch the reboot on Paramount Plus.
The first two Frasier reboot episodes premiere on October 12th in the US.
But unfortunately, international audiences (that’s us Australians) will have to wait an extra day to stream the Frasier reboot.
