Sound the alarm! Wentworthโs final season is upon us and not only has Foxtel dropped a painstakingly short yet tantalising teaser, but the network has confirmed the premiere date, too.
Dubbing it the โfinal sentenceโ, Foxtel confirmed this morning that Wentworth would return for the last time on Tuesday August 24th.
In the clip released alongside the announcement we can see Vera, played by Kate Atkinson, bound and gagged hitting a duress alarm in the prison.

The ladies in teal are coming back.
(Credit: Foxtel)As the footage flashes on a big screen, the showโs leading ladies, aka our beloved and loathed prisoners, stand in front.
A warning plays over the footage: โAttention compound, this is a code blackโ before a prisoner can be heard asking, โYou got any last words?โ.
We. Have. CHILLS.
With this sadly confirmed to be the award winning dramaโs final season ever, fans are sure to be in for a wild ride.
However, all may not be completely said and done just yet with talks of a spin-off series recently emerging.

Seriously, chills.
(Credit: Foxtel)When filming wrapped for the final season last year it didnโt take long for the production site to be dismantled, not long after which the showโs producer, Jo Porter, hinted at some kind of continuation.
โThe Victorian Government have plans for that site, we always had to move out of there this year,โ Jo told the Herald Sunโs SMARTdaily.
โBut weโve relocated sites once before,โ she explained, pointing out the first three seasons of the prison drama were filmed in Coburg in Melbourne.

August 24th is the day we welcome back our favourites.

โNever say never.โ
โIt feels like this chapter of the show has finished. This season has had a big spike in audience domestically. Weโre getting new audiences all the time.
โThereโs a few characters who survive, there are possibilities but at the moment weโre focusing on this being a beautiful bow to draw a close to this chapter,โ Porter hinted of a possible spin-off.
