Contrary to numerous reports in the media this morning, the destination of the 2018 TV WEEK Logie Awards has yet to be finalised, though discussions are at a very advanced stage and an announcement is expected soon.
With hosting TV’s night of nights being one of the most sought-after events in the celeb calendar, the competition to win the rights has been fierce. “We’ve received a lot of interest and numerous bids from different states,” Jayne Ferguson, General Manager, Women’s Lifestyle & Entertainment at Bauer Media, says.
Reports this morning claim that Melbourne decided against wanting to host the TV WEEK Logies next year and that Queensland is now the front-runner to takeover.
“I can confirm that the Queensland Government is in discussions with Bauer Media and Channel Nine to secure the Logies here to Queensland, particularly the Gold Coast,” Kate Jones, Minister for Tourism and Major Events, said this afternoon in a press conference.

“Let’s be frank, what we’ve seen from the Victorian Government in the past 24 hours is sour grapes – they’ve been left dropping the ball on this one, and we know that when events like this become available, all other states have a look to see whether we can secure that.”
The TV WEEK Logies are Australia’s most popular and talked about awards show and red carpet event. This year’s Nine Network broadcast of the TV WEEK Logies pulled in an average national audience of 1.301 million and peaked at 1.766 million.
And next year’s event will be a milestone occasion, with the awards show celebrating its 60th birthday.
“We look forward to a very successful event in 2018 at an amazing location,” Jayne Ferguson says.
