Less than a year after she sensationally walked away from A Current Affair, Tracy Grimshaw is making a comeback already.

In June, a well-placed insider told Woman’s Day that she had a “secret project” in the works with Nine.

Now, Channel Nine has confirmed her return during the network’s Upfront event in Sydney, but the details were slim.

“‘In a new project with details to come, Tracy Grimshaw returns to Channel 9 in 2024,” a Nine spokesperson said.

Mid-2023, the veteran presenter, 63, sent tongues wagging when she was spotted attempting to make a low-key entrance into the Nine offices, where she was believed to be meeting up with bosses to pitch new ideas.

“They were very surprised to hear from her but excited to see what she’d been working on,” says our spy, adding that Nine’s interest was piqued enough on at least one of her ideas that the cogs are already in motion.

“Tracy could be back on our screens as early as 2024!” says the insider.

The TV star’s sudden change of heart is said to have been inspired by Allison Langdon, who slipped effortlessly behind the A Current Affair desk and has been praised by viewers and network executives.

“Tracy is telling friends she may have made a big mistake. She has so much time on her hands and has been watching Ally flourish, and it’s made her miss the thrill of TV.”

“She’s started to think that maybe she isn’t done after all, and she knows Nine will always welcome her back, in whichever capacity she chooses.”

Ally, 44, has proved to be a worthy replacement, with the former Today presenter helping lift ACA’s ratings to some of the highest in recent years.

In the final week of ratings season, Ally brought in 1.1 million – 30,000 more eyeballs than when Tracy was hosting a year earlier.
